No, they're not, they're just happy not to have to sleep on the ice anymore....

Maybe I shouldn't have posted it......

I hope I have not offended anyone, that was not my intent.

Marion

Well you did:mad: This is not the appropriate place for free thoughts or clever post. Report immediately to the ministry of love for your re-education. Go at once Comrade!!!!
BTW this likely belongs in W&S unless your trying to point out polar bears survival skills in warm environments;)\
Also I'm not a vet but that bear looks fat and healthy to me.

I think the rude one is Ray, since he woke him up....

I just felt happy for the poor creature, since he no longer has to eat Seal, now he has the whole forest that he can set to... I bet he is absolutely slavering at the idea of a warm haunch of Caribou... I wonder, does he care if it is Barren Ground or Woodland? Maybe that is why he is at the tree line, to have a chance at both....

Oh to know what goes through a polar bears head...

Maybe it is hoping to find a Brown to have a dance with...

Marion

Maybe we could save them if only our government had a mandatory carbon tax to offset global warming. Start low say around 10% of our income on top of everything else. Maybe to help offset the pain we feel around tax time we could receive a complimentary reach around too:p

Here's a photo of a small arctic cruise ship - with a polar bear asking 'what's for dinner' !!
In the Viking days it was warmer than now, in the ancient Roman days it was warmer still, yet polar bears didn't become extinct. Then why should they become extinct now ?? It's just more Global Warming BS !

I agree, just because the climate is changing doesn't mean it's our fault. There has always been fluctuations in climate, just this time the human population is too large.

There have been warmer periods in the past and that did not kill off the polar bears. Tax people will use any excuse to add and raise more taxes. Next thing they will be proposing a polar bear tax to help bolster the carbon tax.

Can't remember the exact source of the article but genetics testing of recently killed "Golden Colored Bear" showed it to be a cross breed of a Polar Bear and a Grizzly. So we have a new question. Does this constitute extinction of a species or adaptation? Should we humans take note? Sorry can't remember which magazine was the source, maybe Outdoor Life? Good Luck.

I think the thread is in poor taste for W&SS. Belongs in W&C or political. I'm mildly offended. People can hold whatever opinions they like, but a thread like this draws inappropriate commentary from people who don't understand the mandate of W&SS and use it as an excuse to broadcast their political viewpoints.

kgd is right. This was foisted on W&SS but it doesn't belong here, it doesn't advance our wilderness understanding, and I'm not going to dump it on another forum for them to sort out the problems it's already caused.
