What a great day this is !
I received my first HI kukri today and it's a beaut. I pre-ordered and paid for this on April 22nd and what with the electricity shortages in Nepal I didn't expect this until late June at the earliest. Here it is in my hot little hands on June 2nd. Well done Auntie Yangdu  You did a great job.

Total Weight including Scabbard is 1100gms.
Blade Weight only is 878gms.
Blade length is 32cm.
Overall length is 45.7cm.
Blade Width at Bolster is 11mm
Belly width is 57mm

Lovely wood handles, beautiful curve like an upside-down banana :D High quality scabbard. The kuk handle is really "meaty" and coupled with the weight forward of the bolster I think this will be a great chopper. ;) As an Aussie I really appreciate the beer mug as part of the Kamis' signature !!

Sorry about not taking pics, I'm just no good at it. I hope these comments will help people to realise what a great kukri this is. I think I chose well for my first HI kukri. I've already emailed Auntie for my second HI kukri, the Foxy Folly....I can't wait !!

Once again Auntie Yangdu, thanks so much for a great kukri and excellent service.

All you people with your new kukris are killing me... I'm going to have to get one now...

Happy M43 day to all!

Some translations:

18" overall length
31 oz
7/16" at bolster
2-1/4" belly width

Congrats on the M-43! I love mine. Yours is very thick at the bolster, but must taper nicely to get that weight to length ratio. My M-43 spine is between 5/16"-3/8" at the bolster. You and Snow and Steel both mention the handles being "beefy" or large. I found this the case with my Tirtha M-43 also. It actually felt like holding an overstuffed sausage (no comments please:)) I spent a little time with a file, rasp and sand paper. This gave me a great grip that really fit my hand. It's very easy to tweek it with hand tools. Just go slow and steady, checking regularly for fit. The photo below shows before and after shots.

This is a link to my thread about the handle redoux: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/821850-M-43-Handle-Redoux?

A friend of mine picked up a recent Tirtha M-43 and it felt very good in hand. He seems to be perfecting his design. Take care.

Congrats on the first Khuk. M43 is one on my want list.

jdk1: Really nice work on the handle.

Congratulations.

If you would please, read the safety thread. "Things in motion, tend to stay in motion" as in heavy blades slicing down. :)

Great news, beer mug Kami is working in Foxy Folly.
