Planning to invoke nature's wrath onto these bastards. They're basically itching for battle. I love my family to death, and love Al Welke for his amazing sheaths!! Anyone familiar with good camping spots in New York State near NYC so I can beat on these knives?

or head east, get on the ferry, and do CT/RI.

Black micarta often looks greyish depending on the surface prep. I think it's the resin that's dyed, and the canvas or linen layers are left natural, so you get a black/grey pattern. If you wax (or some analog) the surface it tends to go black until you wear it off.

Very nice choice in knives Translash. The micarta and those sheaths look amazing!!! Contemplating getting some for mine too. There are always the Adirondacks but that might be too far for you.

He is right!!! It looks grey but its really black canvas because it is black when wet i think!

harriman state park. pick up trail maps #118 & #119 (campmor & rei sells these among other places). trails near 7 lakes drive or rt 106 are a good start. i go there 12+ times a year (search my name here and in the w&ss sub-forum for the threads i started).

i'm going on a 2-nighter actually (this fri-sun). will be happy to hook you up with one of my friends who'll go there just for the day.
