The price of wanting a blade...

I always felt bad for the people who wanted stuff from Blade or KC and paid a hefty price on the exchange to the resellers only too have the company make it available at much less at factory pricing. I fell stooopid for jumping the gun on the booties:foot:. Live you learn I guess... still leaves a bad taste in my mouth though.

Sorry no pictures.

I agree with you completely. I am really having an issue with the Hinderer prices by resellers. There are many of us who are no longer first responders (retired after 22 yrs) but would still like to purchase one for actual use. It is obvious how many first responders clog up the waiting list only to resell and make a profit.

Dont get me wrong, I purchased a bootie from the X. But its not like 65 is a bad price. And if you got anything but the black, then it looks like it is limited. It certainly is the price you pay. Keeps the collector and flippers on their toes with nothing being set in stone for releases.

And always remember the golden rule folks....No Regrets

I did the same thing. I bought a Silent Soldier for $139.00 when they first came out, they are now $78.00. I will never buy another knife from the maker.

I got a limited color and it isn't like I spent a fortune. However it kinda kills what Busse meant to me: The comradely, Emailing friends to pick up a knife from KC or Blade because I can't go, help one can receive in searching for a rare piece, getting an amazing deal on a blade and then letting it go for a similar price because I won't use it. Guess it just killed the spirit for me. Anyways, no fault of Busse. No Regrets.

The booties were going for $65 on the X. At shipping from the shop and shipping from the seller people aren't making money on these. You could have waited and they may have never been released from the Shop. I think $65 was a good deal on these.

The other part of that is people can pay a hefty price to goto Blade/KC so those prices have a lot of other costs behind them. Now when someone scoops a buch of blades from a Ganzaaa and snipes everyone else out only to flip them, that is another story.

Many of us pay a little extra so we don't have to wait. Who knows when those other booties will actually be shipped. At least you get to use yours now. No regrets. BTW, It looks like a great little blade.

I've been to blade and KC. You do get a small discount at blade. KC is a little different, no real discount. In fact , the x has better prices than some (not all though) blades.

I think that this still happens behind the scenes, among folks who trust each other not to flip a knife for profit, but will instead 'pay it forward' when the time comes, by selling it to another like minded Hog at a fair price.

Did you ask anyone that was at Blade to proxy for you? I know I was taking PMs / emails from people I've never talked to before while I was at Blade show and putting in proxy orders for close to 7 or 8 people each day. The Busse ladies have some great patience, I kept walking up to the booth, going " Got another list for you"

And it is VERY MUCH appreciated. Thanks again Jared

Seriously? Give me a break dude. I knew I should of left you on ignore and not sold to you.You paid $70, and live in Candada. Next time drive 24 hours to blade like I did and get on the preorder, or quit whining and maybe some people will go out of there way for you. The yard is charging $40 + S&H, so maybe $50 direct (more to Canada?). So yeah, factor in paypal, S&H to canada, my expenses to blade, also I WILL be paying taxes on that sale, another expense, return it and Ill give you $80. So sick of the sense of entitlement you think you deserve :thumbdn:

Buying on the exchange is fair. Put in all the factors such as availability, being impatient, might be a limited issue, etc. We all have the free choice to buy or not. Since all the booties were gone in minutes perhaps they were priced to low.

Good point. IMO it is worth extra $ to get the color I want. I really like Jungle Green and tried like the dickens to get a jungle green 1311, but to no avail. :( Scrap Yard seems to be sticking to black lately, so any other color seems pretty cool to me.

I was at Blade but passed on the boot knives all together..........no jungle green. :D

Like Jared, I proxied for SEVERAL folks when I went to Blade, and I was glad to help them. Factor in the knife cost, sales tax, shipping, and then re-shipping Priority/insured, as well as the interest on the credit card, and you will see that folks got a great deal from us. And I am NOT factoring in what it cost to attend the Blade show; travel and gas, hotel, food, etc.!..

I for one thank you guys for being nice enough to do what you do. The costs add up quick. The time adds up quick. The effort involved to be a proxy far outways any monitary gain from it I am sure. I paid one of the gentlemen in this thread $65 for a great little knife. That person, to earn their profit had to spend 40 of that on the blade. 6 on shipping plus another couple of bucks on paypal fees. Then lets not forget the initial shipping to get it to him. Now how much gas did it take to get to the post office? How much did the supplys like tape cost to put it in the box? So I payed someone less then $10 profit to handle all of that for me and I didnt even need to share the trip cost with him. Damn I got ripped off.....

If anything this experience has left me satisfied and thankful. Much appreciated brother klink

I certainly don't regret picking up Booties on the exchange. I wanted the colors I got and it's not like the markup was huge. Thank you to those who made them available!
