Carbon is an element. You can't make blades out of 100% carbon.

I think 2% is the highest carbon content in steel.
 
You can make a blade out of 100% carbon, and it's called Diamond. Whether it cuts like a knife, that's another matter.

I don't think it would rust at all!!! I'm guessing this was a listing on the bay... Some people will write the stupidest stuff...
 
Man made diamond had been available for a long time now, mostly for industrial use in drill heads. You just have to make a bigger piece of it, use jeweler's tools to make the sides sharp, and attach a handle. It chips, breaks under stress, but it cuts/scores glass!

I sure the seller was trying to say carbon steel and not carbon but I did find the wording humerous. Here is what Dick Matheny had to say about 420HC in the March 2004 BCCI Newsletter. In our context, 420HC, "High Carbon" is only one half of one percent.
