The problem with Gun Ads...

heh. thats kind of funny in a scary, depressing kind of way! And it reminds me of things.

My father has... many problems. I acquired my hand-me-down 9mm beretta when I came across it with the magazine loaded backwards. Due to the angle it wouldn't go all the way in but he had somehow forced it about halfway and got it stuck. At that point I told him that he had lost his gun privileges and could sell them or give them to me- some got sold and some came to me.

They say that things eventually come full circle in the child-parent relationship and, eventually, the child becomes the parent and vice versa. In my family this happened a little sooner than I would have liked but at least he is safe from himself.

I've seen students do this with Beretta mags a few times. I've also seen them attempt to load the magazines in backwards. In one case, a particularly well motivated (and strong) student managed to chamber a round backwards. It was not much fun to remove it.

Now, for your viewing pleasure, I introduce to you - the FubAR:

i like the bendy barrel look on the pamphlet, good for shooting round the corners in urban conflicts.....

and it's refreshing to be able to see how many rounds are in that policepersons weapon, he must have been creative to get it to stay in there, you can be sure you have a full load that way. betcha the next perp they come across laughs himself to death thus saving taxpayers the cost of a few rounds.

OH my GAAAWD! Dave, please tell me that was a joke.....otherwise, it's the officer, not the gun, that's FUBAR....and needs replaced. I don't want that guy anywhere near me. I would think that you'd have to remove the magazine bottom to even slide a magazine into the well upside down ...I hope, I hope.

As a teacher you learn one thing very fast:

There is no such thing like "fool-proof" Nothing is so stupid noone would think about it.

One of two possibilities, no three...

One --- This gun is built to kill terrorists by shooting the shooter! :jerkit:

Two --- This is a real stoooooooopid screwup. :( :o :foot: :foot:

Three -- This is one of the most clever ads EVER done. Just look at the widespread free advertising as this ad makes the rounds over the internet. :D  :D

Three (a): Even though the gun is incredible "Accuracy, reliability,......etc. Not reading the instructions --- or not doing what YOU should do will invalidate it as anything but a small club!:p

Slightly off topic, but I remember when the AirBus 300 series passenger jet was being checked out by the big brass at Air Canada, sort of a wine & cheese deal where they could tour the airplane, walk around it, and congratulate themselves.

One of the Big Wheels was in the cockpit, (this was a fully functional plane) and flipped the landing gear retract switch for fun (this CANNOT be done by accident). Landing gear retracts, plane and about 100 or so guests slam into the ground. No one was hurt (at least not seriously).

They immediately contact AirBus and complain about the safety hazard. AirBus's reply was who would try to retract landing gear on a plane that is already on the ground? Modifications were made so gear cannot be retracted while plane is sitting on the ground.
