These repros are made in India. other than the barrels, the locks, etc. are touted as hand forged. Nice looking teak stocks. A lot of variety in the arms offered, and good prices. I've seen these offered by other vendors as well. The list of Museums using them looks impressive.

I might try one someday. Nothing like shooting a flint gun.

hand forged knives, guns with hand forged locks. Doesn't get much better, does it?

:)

Tom,
One of these would be a really appropriate period mate for a kukri. They were originally carried in pairs, very useful when a wounded tiger decided to climb up and join the hunter on his elephant. Though .62 calibre is a little puny for an original howdah pistol:D.

Cool!

I hadn't looked at those yet They promise a flint powered double pistol soon too.

My carry permit should come in soon. A pair of those percussion pistols properly loaded might make a nice brace of "Howdy!" pistols. Effective medicine for repelling borders from the family schooner.

(wait 'til some of the guys catch a look at the blunderbusses. 2 to 1 this crosses over into a Pirate thread before it is over!)

:D

I needed to see that site like I needed a hole in my head. Thanks Gravertom:rolleyes: . Very very cool:cool:

Khukuris and Martini Henrys. Khukuris and flintlock pistols.
Or with an East India pattern Brown Bess :D

Oh man, they have a Baker Rifle, albeit smoothbore.
Sharpe's Rifles, chosen men, Over the Hills and Far Away.............

There's forty shillings on the drum
To those who volunteer to come,
To 'list and fight the foe today
Over the Hills and far away.

(chorus)
O'er the hills and o'er the main
Through Flanders, Portugal and Spain.
King George commands and we obey
Over the hills and far away

Never fear, this company sells the same things, apparently.

If you scroll down, they note that a US barrel maker will fit and test fire a rifled barrel to the Baker for $150.

Then, a nice two barrel smoothbore rifled barrel set would be yours. Ought to do for any problem one shot might solve!

Thanks Tom! That's one of the best old style arms websites I have ever seen! And if you haven't looked at Pete's blog you've missed some good laughs as well.  :D

Very cool! I love nostalgic, beautiful, and functional things. Like our Khuks, it just brings a little joy into one's life.

I'd just like to know if flintlocks or percussion firearms like these are legal to own in NYC or California.

I'm guessing OK for CA, not for NYC but I really don't know. I do know that in New York even "antique" handguns require a permit, and must be received through a FFL dealer. I could not, as a New York resident, order one of those pistols directly. It would have to come to the shop first, then get put on my permit.

Why did I leave NC again???

Only Kipling could do her justice in verse-
