The Proverbial Survival Knife

I liked it. Specially the part about the Beckers.:D

What? I'm a Beckerhead, what can I say.

I do agree with him on almost all points. Good vid, good post. Thanks.

ok...THAT video ought to be required viewing!

funny at times, right to the heart...and OH SO TRUE

I may steal that one line for a sig for awhile....

"That knife you left at home this morning...or the one in your BOB....is NOT your survival knife!"

Man, that's good stuff right there. I get asked sometimes why I carry a hard use fixed blade on me every day...and why I daily carry a Rush 24 that I can live out of ....but this is why. You may not make it back to your house, or even your vehicle.... great video, thanks for sharing.

Good video. Thanks for posting it here. I should consider taking a chopper to work with me now. Hmm..

long winded, but the message is still sound. Probably could have just said "ya gotta have your survival knife with ya, if you plan to survive". ;)

good video for sure. i agree with him. but damn that means my izula 2 is my survival knife :) as for my urban environment its always with me. always in my get home kit is a bark river bravo 1 which is always with me also i guess.

definitely worth the watch

The man's got a point. I think he knows a good bit of what survival really is - not the mall ninja variety nor the Michigan Militia type.

How many of us really do carry our survival knives/systems? It can be difficult if you work or go places regularly which forbid "field" knives.

Well stated. If it's not on you it does no good. That attitude is one of the reasons I have some of my RAT knives and smaller TOPS knives now. It's funny one of my earlier "survival" knives was the first one shown in that video. I loved that knife and spent a lot of time carrying it in the glades and swamps in key Largo but got more used to my issue survival knife because it was easier to keep close by when at work at the resort. I wish RAT had existed back then I'd have had an Izula or a HEST in my suit pocket. I'm glad there are more options on the market these days for small tough knives. Because that BMF was a great heavy knife that worked well in the field but spent most of it's time in my truck, sometimes two miles away from my location.

Very nice video and a good reminder of the basics. It's not helpful if it's not with you.
The baby laughing was great !
Thanks.

Whoa, that guy gets it.

Great video thanks for sharing!

So much of that video is quotable, truly words to live by...

I was thinking about this and I completely agree its alway the knife you have on you not the one sitting on the dresser or in the safe.

I guess that's why I always think of my Rajah 2 as my survival knife, its always on me, always. If I can make it to the truck then the Busse B11 is there waiting for me, either knife I trust with my life but the fundamental idea of the one knife, is the one that you have when you need it.

This is more a discussion of semantics than anything. People like the word, it implies salvation. In fact, I'm going to start calling my EDC a SALVATION knife!
