I have always wanted a Finnish or Lapin Puukko, both because they are excellent knives, and because I am Finnish. I checked out the Mora knives, because I'd like something cheaper, but they have only one or two I'm interested in. I don't want to spend more than 100 dollars, and I don't really need a traditional knife (traditional puukkos are expensive and fancy), just something I can use. I already have the Cold Steel Finn Wolf, but I want to expand a little more than that. Does anyone have any recommendations for a puukko for good use, and perhaps SD, under $100?
Thanks in advance,
Tentmaker

Karesuando Knives,Bruslleto and Helle are mostly under 100 $,and excellent users, check out Ragweed Forge

I thought that Marttiinni is an original Finnish brand - and that they produce real puukko. Or somebody like Roselli or Peltonen... All of them are available and below 100 dollars threshhold.
Or am I wrong? Would then Swedish Mora or Norwegian Helle be the manufacturers to look for if going after Finnish knife? ;)
I think that at least some original Marttiinni models are widely available in US under Rapala trademark. I might be slightly wrong with the name, but not by fahr... So IMO that would be the best choice. The models could be easily verified by searching the internet for Marttiinni and Rapala accordingly.
That would be a good example I guess: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brow...c%2BHunting%2BKnife%252C%2B5-in.jsp?locale=en

Jarvenpaa Aito Puukko. A great small puukko, the birch bark handles are just awesome. Not good for SD, really (too small).

If for SD I thing Peltonnen M07 would be a good choice - as far as any knife would go. For I belive that a knive in general is an extremely poor choice for SD.

Roselli has plenty of charm. The Roselli Carpenter is a splendid puukko, made of carbon steel. Very usable.

Kellamknives.com. They've been selling Finnish puukkos for ~20 years (maybe longer).

Take a look at their puukko for $79, as well as their Wolverine puukko, which has a glowing temper line $98. The manufacture quality, including the sheath is excellent. All of their Finn blades are excellent.

Or, you can make your own puukko/Scandi knife by buying Lauri blades.
