Sal/Danelle,
I know that the prototype Matriarch is going through yet ANOTHER design review as I am writing this. Do you have ANY idea when we will be able to see/OWN the real thing? Any idea on pricing? Blade steel, etc.?

The Matriarch is my second MUST-HAVE knife right after the StarMate, in my opinion. The prototype was fantastic. What could make it better, I wonder?

I suppose that the addition of serrations, the "angle of attack"

and the handle material are all being looked at... These are only my guesses, we'll have to wait a little longer to see what's actually happening. What I mean with "angle of attack" is clear when you have a look at some of the older Harpy models, as opposed to the newest version. The older knife was more aggressive (when looking at the point shape and curve).

BTW, I've learned by now not to kid myself when it comes to buying new Spyderco models: there's no number 1, number 2, etc. for me... I KNOW I'm going to buy all of them, so I just DO IT!!!

(...waiting for the Starmate and the Matriarch!... AND the SpydeWrench, AND...)

I am sure that you may have already found the update that I believe you were looking for on one of the other two threads dealing wtih the Matriarch.

It is about 60 days out so look for it near the end of August. As for design changes, my understanding is that this run did not have any made.

Thanks for the link to the pictures. Spydernut has a great page and the Matriarch is an awesome knife. The plain blade starmate and a serrated military are in front of the Big Momma on my shopping list.
