the reason busses are so wonderful

im relatively new to blade forum, and yet i have had many many knives in my day. ive had the pleasure of handling knives such as hand made bob lum folders, llewellyns and several other wonderful examples of steel perfection.
i have been introduced to busse knives only in the last two or three months. yet i am allready enamoured. the reason for this i realised after hours of holding and admiring mr busses knives.
now understand that i would never belittle any knifemakers, busse is not the only great knifemaker, in fact, i love many of them. but busse knives satisfy a deep part of peoples knife craving souls. when you first hold a busse, you are enwrapt in a feeling of solidity, a sense of foundation and power. "this knife will not let me down" is a phrase i find myself repeating constantly in my head. and what could be more elementary than the need for a sense of security and stability?
that simple reason is why i find myself in love with these knives. they let me know that they will not fail.

feel free to use this thread to elaborate on why we love busse knives

I'm a new Busse fan as well. I own quite a few knives, but none radiate power and indestructibility like a Busse does. Haven't yet really tested one, but the little chopping I did do with an FBM LE surpassed my expectations. :D

I think the OP is exactly right. The knives give you a feeling that they will not let you down.

Of course other popular brands fall into the same category, ZT, Strider, Hinderer, etc. That helps explain the popularity of all these brands as well!

Busses are just incredible knives and the INFI talks to you telling you go go out and use it. Just pick one up and you can feel the power of the blade. When chopping they are very solid and bite deep, my FBM CG is a chopping machine, more like a chainsaw really. :D

Easy to keep sharp, holds an edge, very strong and low maintance INFI is THE steel.

Without a dought, the best combo of knife design/steel to produce the toughest knife made. Custom, or production.

I like my thin handmades, or my .125 Busse cultie for hunting or EDC.
But for tough hard use its Busse.

Another plus for Busses... their exclusivity is price/availability based. I think about buys too long - and I am frugal - okay, cheap. So, any group that won't allow the poor riff raff, like me, in can't be all bad. Like I've always maintained... any group whose standards (... or prices!) are so low they would allow me in is too low for me to want to be in... Well, it made sense in my head. It's still sunny there, too... raining outside here...

Hmmm, yum - sour grapes! Let's make some homebrew 'Ripple'!

I'll get a Busse one day... yeah, sure... when Hawgs fly! I will try to afford one... really...

Stainz

PS I have a RAT RC-5 - isn't that sort of a Busse-lite?? Okay, maybe a redheaded bastard stepchild twice removed?

The RC-5 will run you $144, a Busse Tank Buster costs $287.

The TankBuster is slightly bigger than the RC-5, has options, and is made of Infi steel.

Your choice is do you want the knife in 1095 or Infi.

As long as you buy new knives from Busse when offered, or buy users at reasonable prices you can afford a Busse. I've paid more for cameras and video cards that are obsolete now. If you want some collectable version that's running over $500, then yeah, it's getting too expensive for me too.
