Sure sounds like it!

For generations now, they have been the go-to knife for all kinds of people that are out there doing whatever in the real world.
 
Cool read. If I used a standard Mora as a life saving ice pick, I'd have to pick my fingers up off of the ground. :eek:

Cool story! I wonder if it was intended to refer to a Mora? I had one of those Red Moras for about a dozen years, 1970 to the early 1980s. I sanded the paint off it, and oiled the handle - and used it for everything!
I wonder where it went?? I suspect my son lost it many years ago - I'll have to ask him!:confused:
 
I had a feeling y'all would enjoy this story.

For those curious about the knife, here is the author's description of it.

Rugged and primitive as the land in which I’d found it, it was a straight, thick, 3¼-inch blade with so much carbon content that the steel was already as gray and discolored as an Indianhead nickel.

The keen edge easily shaved hair from the back of my wrist — and much of the rest of my arms. There was no hilt and the handle was a chunk of rough wood dipped in red paint. The rigid plastic sheath lacked a tab to hang on a belt, so I simply stuffed the sheathed knife into a back pocket.

Red-handled knives aren't confined to Sweden though, here's a Tollekniv from Norway :thumbup:



When I first started writing about knives for UK publications in 1991, they were full of great hulking "survival knives". My first fixed-blade review comprised 3 pages about the wee knife above, and was the first piece on a 'Scandinavian' knife that I know of that was published here. Had quite an impact at the time. It was the prize in my very first giveaway here :)
