I have been wanting one of these for a long time. I have always had a fondness for the traditional scout pattern. The pattern makes me think of campfire stories and grand outdoor adventures. This pattern was for me an intriguing take on the old scout pattern. I have bid on several that I have seen on ebay usually losing to someone willing to pay a hundred dollars or close to it. Finally I won and ended up paying about half what these beauties usually go for, what a coup. It seemed to take forever till it arrived in the mail. It has some heft to it thats for sure. The weight feels good in the hand. I have every intention of carrying and using this baby. I was excited this past weekend when my wife brought me a bottle of pop. Finally, a chance to break in my new acquisition presents itself. I was surprised and very disappointed when my new knife, the object of so much obsession could not lift the cap on a soda bottle. It seems the small hook that goes under the cap is too long almost like it is going to make a closed loop. I eventually worked the cap off but man what a bummer. I am thinking a little fine tuning with a file may fix this issue. The blades are flat ground and look like they will be good slicers. I plan on using the small clip point so as to keep the main blade new for collectability purposes. This knife has an old fashioned looking can opener that was for me, the most interesting feature on this model. I tried using it on a can of tuna and I could not make it work. I have a lot of practice using the various types of knife and multi tool based can openers because I will use any excuse to play with my toys. What a bummer. I still love this knife. The knifes appeal to me was always in the aesthetics. I am sure that if its lovely form was merged with effective function it would be soloing as my current EDC. The ct cork screw looks and feels a little flimsy. I wonder if anyone has had similar experiences with this knife pattern.
