I was reading in a recent knife magazine about blade steel. It was talking about the reputation of companies like Queen based on their steel that they used.

What was interesting to me, was that Queen had no reputation with me, good or bad, because they make traditional knives, that I don't buy.

SO my question is, are the reputations of companies that only make traditional knives alive and well?

For the most part, I think that the makers of traditional knives have continued to have good reputations. Case has kind of a hot and cold reputation. It seems you can really well made knives and not so well made knives from them. Hen & Rooster do not have as good a reputation as they had before the company was taken over by the Robert Klass Co., the makers of Kissing Crane knives. Other companies like Queen/Schatt & Morgan, Bulldog Brand, Camillus, Schrade, and German Eye seem to have maintained their good reputations. Others I am not sure about.
