What the heck is "Serpent's Bane"? Well, it's a most uncommon khukri. There's no initials on the ricasso, it may be a Durba, but the Nepali flag looks done in Murali's hand. The knife is 20" of gleaming Kumar Kobra. Why "Serpent's Bane"? Because prior to pulling a tour of duty in northeastern Afghanistan it was used with great notoriety down around Smithville, Texas to lop heads off of snakes. That's right Pappy, your old "snake charmer" is coming home as soon as I can find a proper box for it.
Here's the deal, most of the khuks from the forumites that went over with my unit to Afghanistan are greatly cherished and lovingly cared for. I got wind that this one had wound up gathering dust in an equipment locker and it about broke my heart. I guess some folks just don't take to khukuris, but that, IMHO, is no way to treat a proud warrior. It want's to come home and walk in the woods once again with its rightful owner. I'm happy to be of service in that matter. The miscreant troop that banished it to an equipment locker? I compensated him for the khuk monetarily after overcoming the initial urge to remove a bit of his hide.
