The company that made the 650 is making them again. These won't have the military markings on the caseback, but is essentially the same watch from the same company.

Notice that the bezel has the "subdivision" markings from 12 to 4. These are supposed to be $160.

Cool looking watch but what is special about this particular model?

They look alot like the other Traser watches. Why is it called Sandy?

Good Evening All-

Decent-looking enough. Any reports on the durability of that oxide finish?

Methinks that a standard brushed finish would be best for most situations...unless you are truly concerned about getting picked-off by enemy snipers due to extreme bling-bling watch glare. Wow, what a run-on sentence!

The originals were somewhat unique in that they were strictly military issue. Of course many eventually made their way to the civilian market where the mil watch afficianados paid (and still pay) good prices for them. These likely will not have nearly the same resale value without the military markings. Sandy is more properly written as SandY amongst the mil watch types (and better yet "S" and "Y" for the English majors ;) ). It's basically shorthand for the original manufacturer, Stocker and Yale; a company which some of you may remember also made tritium illuminated compasses for the military.

I wouldn't worry too much about the durability of the black oxide finish as there likely is none. I'd imagine these cases will be made of a black nylon material (i.e. plastic).

Bronco,
You are correct the S&Y Navigator P650 Type-6, to be exact, is made of nylon/fiberglass composite. It is howver very durable. I have beat the hell out of mine (wish somebody would have told me what the collectors where willing to pay for them new in the military issue box BEFORE I wore it). However, it is still running and keeps great time. Cant complain, especially when it was Uncle Sam free issue.
