After letting this knife hang in my shop for well over a month I decided to change the S guard for a more simple flat oval guard. Before I did that I did bend the bottom of the S a fuzz but I still didn't like it. Its a done deal now so there's no turning back. The blade is 9 3/4" out of the new batch of 1084 that Aldo Bruno had made up. Fittings are wrought iron and one of the nicest pieces of sambar stag I have gotten my hands on. I've got a before and after picture of it.

Raymond,
I like the second picture much better. Actually, I remember this knife and was thinking that the S guard was too short on bottom. The new guard made all the difference in the world. It is a beautiful knife. I have some of the 1084 from Aldo and Mace too. Its good steel. Lin

That's one fantastic looking knife. A lot of people don't like S-guards, but done well they are my favorite. I much prefer the S-guard on this knife. That sambar looks as good as the stuff that was around a few years ago. Outstanding.

I like the revision much better. To my eye the S-guard was not quite stout enough and was too close to the grip at the bottom. I love the stag!
