The right SAK for me

Yes, it's another one of these threads where I say what I want and yinz throw more knives for me to look at it making my decision much harder. :foot:

I'm just gonna keep it short and simple, here it goes:

I am in the market for a new Victorinox, I want to stress the Victorinox part.
I really really like my executive, I love it. I love my money clip as well. I really love those mid sized ones. I want to try a full sized one now.

I was looking at the tinker, It seems to be the right size, but I want the scissors the super tinker offers. I'm afraid it'll be too big though. The extra layer seems to add alot. I carry SAKs along with at least one locking blade. This sak will go into the right front pocket or the change pocket if I'm wearing jeans.

Is there any other tool that suits my needs?
I want a bottle and can opener, scissors, at least one blade (I don't ever use the small ones, its like an emergency back up always sharp blade) the 3d phillips on the tinker I would use a lot, I could go without it and the awl thing, I've heard they're super useful though. Not a deal breaker either way. Tweezers and toothpick are preferred but the alox models are cool enough that I can deal without them if need be.

In essence, i want a tinker with scissors instead of the screwdriver/awl or no I did a quick bladehq search and a cadet with scissors added would be better it replaces the small blade with the nail file which I actually use, seems like no one likes it. If I have a cracked or chipped nail I just file it down so its not catching on my pockets or anything and I don't end up skinning my finger or something crazy because that is my luck.

I know that some on here can add these tools and such buuut... I imagine its pricey and I've tried contacting some of the people with no response back after several emails being sent to them. does Vic make a factory model similar to what I want?

If not I will probably settle with the super tinker, the extra tools won't hurt. I'll find a use for the hook and awl for sure. Its one of those things where I don't know I need it yet I'm gonna guess.

I also wanted to try out that p-7 keychain pocket clip from tec accessories I think. I would carry this sak as my main blade then. But they're like 12 bucks plus shipping. Anyone use one? They worth it? If not I'll just try my hand at making a few from a hacksaw blade. Sorry that's off topic but I figured just slap in in here instead of making another thread somewhere else. I apologize if any mods are upset at my laziness :P

Sorry I lied, it isn't too short. I babble on sometimes. :D

Look into the compact model, it has scissors, large blade, combo tool, hook, tweezers, toothpick, ball point pen, and sharp pin.
It's only two layers thick, and can do everything the super tinker can minus the Phillips.

Swoop - I am sending you a link to a website where you can look at various SAKs side by side. Its a useful site for comparing SAKs as well as identifying them. I can't post it here because it is arguably a commercial site, though they are not currently selling SAKs.

Thanks powernoodle! That's a wonderful site.
thanks bje and joe as well, i saw the compact before and kinda put it off for not having enough tools but i didn't realize that the bottle opener was their multi purpose one nor that the hook has a file on the back of it. I will have to pick it up and give it a whirl. You can't have to many of these darned things i guess lol. Worst case i dont like it so i just throw it in a drawer or toolbox instead of carrying it. I just dont have the money to buy 6 and 7 of them and try them all or else i would.

Nah, you can always unload it here on the forums, either for cash or a swap.

Yea I could but I know I'll like it enough to keep it, I just don't know yet if I will want to carry it. I actually ordered the compact, the last one Bladehq had. If I don't like it I'll try something else i guess, or throw it up for trade and test the waters.

Have you tried the SAK selector? Input what you want and it tells you the model you need.

No, never heard of it. I'll go check that out. Sounds like a great idea.

Holy crap that is awesome!

it is! I just checked it out and there isn't a model for my exact wants but i tweeked it until i got some models that give or take.
I then started thinking about the models it showed, they should add this take away that entire layer or replace this, and everytime I was like "oh, the compact is really close to that, oh that is the compact almost exactly and oh....that IS the compact." So I'm hopin it turns out to be the right one for my edc. If bladehq stays consistent which they always do, it will be here tomorrow morning. It always takes exactly 4 days from purchase to get to my house from utah. 1 to process it and get it our their door then 3 for usps to give it to me. They always fondle my knives for a few days before they deliver it. I know they do, why else would it take three days to get across the states? Its not like they have to drive or anything, that'd be crazy :D Man i'm tired i'm making bad jokes...

Thank you everyone for your aid in my knife endeavors once again.
