Just got the Rodent 9 today and I couldn't be more psyched! The grip and balance are fantastic! I was wary of the look of the new handles, but they really provide an excellent grip! The overall design is just very svelte and functional.

Well enough Yacking, I'll just show ya. Hopefully my pics aren't too bad.

With the other blades that arrived this week:

I really love this blade! It just begs to be used. It's too bad I won't be able to use it until the weekend. If you didn't get one in the Ganza, make sure to grab one when they hit the store! Thanks everyone at Busse and Swamprat for designing this winner and getting it into my eager hands quickly

I love the chopping lanyard on my NMSFNO. I can't remember where I got it from. Oh yeah, it was you! Thanks again, that thing is awesome!

Thanks for the pictures, but my neck hurts now from trying to look at the ones which are upside-down. :p

thanks for posting!
I did notice you have a bandage on your finger. Did it bite already?

Just got home and the 9 was waiting for me.... Could not agree more with everything you've said!

HOLY SH*T this thing is just perfection!!!

The grips are amazing and the balance is out of this world - much nicer than the M9 and I think I MIGHT prefer it to my BWM, which it is almost like a scaled down version of... Its like a mini BWM blade with a SAR4/6 handle. I will sand down a tiny portion of that bump in the middle of the grip - it is a little too thick me - but this thing just LOCKS into your hand. Its also the sharped Busse or kin I have ever received with the exception of the HOG Muk.

Honestly, I think this is one of the nicest of any Busse or kin to come our way - this is going to be a classic. Can I start a chant for a .19" version???? :D

WELL DONE GUYS!!!

Pics coming...

I fixed the pics. Sorry about that.

TrailWolf, nice write up. I agree with you completely, except for the sharpness aspect. Mine is sharp enough, but I think my two Beef sharpened blades are the sharpest factory edges I've received.

Definitely a classic. That means the rest of the Swamp Rat 11 series is going to be awesome!

thanks for posting!

Nope. That was the 5-11! Great blade, but you really have to think before reaching for the Choil.

The handle allows for several different very comfortable grips. I'd love to see this handle on some INFI. Choking up is comfortable with just your pinky under the hump, and a secure and comfortable grip with just your index finger above the hump for a longer reach and more leverage for chopping.

I agree, this blade would be sweet in a thinner and longer variation.

This handle beats the Fusion and BWM handles by a long shot, at least for me.

Flux, do you have a DSF to do side by side shots? I have a DSSF, and I love the blade, but the grip is kind of wimpy. I've thought of sending it in for liners, but I really like the look of the R9!

Personally I like the DSF handle but have heard alot of other people not like it. The handles are very different in width and length.

Thanks Drbarnes. I have never really had the desire to get a DSF. I like longer blades to have more blade. I do really love the Boss Jack though. It has really grown on me.

The Rodent 9 handles are very large and thick, but I still really like the way the blade locks in. The handles on the rodent 6 & lower appear to be flat instead of contoured. Those may be the perfect handles!

That's a nice haul for the week! The 9 looks great but that white rucki is sweet!
Yep. I love the Arctic Rucki. Not sure why, because Arctic doesn't really appeal to me on other blades.

If you love the BJ - you will really love the DSF... Its like a BJ on steroids and I often carry it over my NMSFNO as its just as much blade in a MUCH lighter package...

The price is right on them now too - I've seen a lot of the DSFs for under $300 which is a STEAL!!!

Here is a comparison shot:
