I have a Rookie (VG-10, foliage gree G-10) that was bought recently. I've come to love this little folder, a great EDC knife that I carry almost every day. A few questions:

Have there been other Rookies with different blade steel? I would love to get my paws on a S30V model.

Is the current version a sprint run? Are there more versions planned for the future? Or sould I buy more before it disappears?

Thanks.

Current version of the Rookie (C51 GPFG) is a SprintRun, yes.
Other Rookies were (old models from 1998 - 2000):
C51G Rookie, black G-10 handle, plain edge, serrated edge and partly serrated edge, blade steel ATS-55 (versions with and without liner)
C51 Rookie, stainless steel handle, plain edge and serrated edge, ATS-55
All Rookies are made in Seki, Japan. No CPM S30V model.

What your last two questions concern - please decide at your own ;)

You might also consider laying hands on a G10 Standard. It's similar in size to the Rookie but tip down and without the swedge.

I have a brand new Rookie that I've been thinking about putting up on e-bay along with a few other older Spydercos. May have to actually use it and see if I want to keep it or not.
