The "Rookie" . . .

I see many of Spyderco's models mentioned in the forum, but haven't found any comments on the "Rookie" . . ?

Looking at its specs it seems to provide an excellent balance between a handy defensive blade, compact size, and a good grip. It is a bit pricey ($70-odd) which might be holding it back. I'm eyeing the Rookie, the Endura, and the Calypso and right now the G10 Rookie is looking good.

Am I missing something, has it been discontinued, is it too aggresive . . ? Comments?

Regards, HILTON

The Rookie is a fairly new model. It is a minature Police model. The G-10 adds to the price compared to similarly sized knives.

Nice knife, though, been playing with one at a dealer.

I purchased a rookie with S S handles 6 or 7 weeks ago. I have carried it on a daily basis and although it is heavier than the g 10 version I do prefer th steel handles. It handles well and is a good compromise in size since my endura is too large to carry at work and the dragonfly tough to open one handed. Good shape to the blade and I have not yet had to sharpen the ATS-55 steel. A nice knife and a good choice. I too have wondered about the lack of attention for this nice tool.
