The knife came today and it's not what I expected at all. It seems to be some kind of hybrid between a Buck and a Schrade; maybe a prototype collaboration. It's a very nice knife and well balanced for its size.

The rubber handle is definitely a Schrade and looks much like the handle from the XT series. The blade however, is marked Buck 119 as you can clearly see in the closeup of the tang stamp:

What the hell was I supposed to do, it came too late for April Fools Day. I guess I can't fool you guys.

Here's the real one, but it's just as mysterious:

Well thats a relief, at least you got the correct item, the knife in your pic looks even better than the image from the e-bay page. nice catch

Does that have USA stamped on it? It kind of looks like something from the R&D room in Beijing.
Good to see you back Mr. Redshanks

Nothing is marked on the blade at all, only the handle as shown. It's a good chunk of steel and is interesting for being unique, but I like the Buck/Schrade better. ;)

I guess I had better explain myself before I create any more confusion. I had hoped to receive the rubber handled Schrade Pro Hunter that we followed on eBay by April 1st, so that I could make a joke by posting the wrong knife. I didn't receive it until yesterday and the timing was such that it may have been misunderstood as a hoax.

There is no such thing as the Buck/Schrade that I posted a photo of, I just threw the Buck blade into a Schrade handle. The rubber handled Schrade does exist as shown in the second set of photos. My apologies to those who may not have understood my poor attempt at a delayed April Fools Day joke.

i got it redshanks, thought it was good'n too! but i agree with ya, that buck/schrade mutt would look real nice! off the subject, but hav u bought any of the buck knives in the clampacks at wal-mart?? just heard this morning that a guy bought one in atlanta and when he opened the pack, the whole damn knife fell apart!!! now that had to have been a heck of a april fools joke buck played on someone!!

No, I haven't bought any Buck knives lately, but I did just pick up 4 of the Buck 119 blade blanks that I will try to put some custom handles on. They have been ground and heat treated but are unfinished beyond that point. I should probably post this in the Buck forum to get some ideas on how to finish them.

dont know how to finish them, but i do a young man in sc who will take them off your hands when they are finished!! u know, i do need me a good stag handled knife....
