Here's an early one. This was a prototype bowie with an 11" blade that I designed for Sturm Ruger back in 1984-85. I proposed it as the first Ruger knife. There was also another one that used the Ruger Security Six grips for handles. They informed me at the time that they were not interested in marketing a knife. This was also one of my first flat grinds. It has some pretty cool sweeping lines. Check out the "thumb grip" I put this design on a lot of my early blades. There was no chance of your thumb slipping. EVER!!!! The knife is rather beat up as it served as my personal carry blade for about 5 years and then as my friends EDC for another 5 years.

Need I say more.

That is sweet Jerry!!!! You can just clean her up and ship her over to me anytime you like;) Do you have a pic of the other one too? I can't believe Bill Ruger didn't take to that like a duck to water, but it must not have fit into his vision for the company somewhere is all I can figure.

wtf!! i email you at 4:51 and you went boozin!! i think i'm close to the first one that would die for that knife!! read your mail!
cool blade!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll let you all decide. Does this knife relate to the amount of infi in idaho? The Mystery continues:p

I'll leave it to you to decide.

I'll try to put a pic of the sheath up today. It is hysterical! I made it while I was on the road out to California in 1985. I didn't have any tools with me but brought a huge piece of 12 oz. leather with me. It definitely has "Fred Flintstone" written all over it. I made it as a "wilderness" style sheath that would offer the most protection to me and the knife. I used the Ruger Bowie for all of the cutting, hole punching, and hammering.

I like "pouch" style sheaths the most but have never seen one quite like this. Needless to say, it is not only a one of a kind knife, but a one of a kind sheath. I made this while camping in southern Nevada. Jeremiah Johnson would've been proud! ;)

"Some say he's dead...some say he never will be."

"And some folks say, he's up there still."

Jeremiah Johnson: Do you know where I can find beaver, bear, and other critters that are worth cash money when skint?

Jeremiah: Where you headed?
Del Gue: Same place you are, Jeremiah: hell, in the end.
