I figure this hawk would do the trick. 10 1/2" head, buck skin wrapped with brass pins......

Dude,

I personally know a half dozen Marines that would love to carry that with them on their hunt for Saddam. The pointy end would do a nice job on kevlar:eek: I've gotta make me one of those!

What are you doing to the leather to make it look like that? That's beautiful.

Rick

Ray that looks awsome! I've got some thin leather on order, will have to give wraping the handles a try.

What size stock did it start out as?

Will, this one was from 7/8" square 1080. As for the leather it was just dyed and then a little Minwax wax......

Ray that is one PURDY Hawk you made...:D

The leather wrap turned out really great also.
Now go forge another one:p

I think it would be MUCH more satisfying to kill the bastard with THAT tomahawk instead of one of the "new" tomhawks we're usin over there right now :D

Terry, The leather is over lapped, I've done both ways but I prefer the over lap. It helps give a better grip and I prefer the look. When I used the bump together is when I've used heaver leather.

Bruce, I've forged 4 hawks this week and my arm is pretty sore but I'm wanting to forge one more. Before we talked the other night I was also thinking about to doing a Spontoon type so thats going to be on the menue for today. Not sure about the particulars yet, I'll let the hammer figure that out.

Boinking Saddam with a hawk like this would be alot more personal and a heck of alot cheeper. With this war going on at least we know where are tax dollars are going. The tomahawks that are being used over there aren't even custom but sure carry a heavy price tag.....

Can you tell me how you wrapped the leather? It looks great by the way. Did you wet it or glue it or anything before you wrapped it? :D

Terry, Barge in a word. Coat the handle and the leather both with it, if you get any on you fingers wipe it off on your pants. It helps in water proofing them, not sure if my wife goes for that but I think she's used to me. After the glue has dried you can roll the leather up like a roll of tape which makes it easier to do the wrap.....
