This is the same simple hunter profile as the previous one, another test mule for a new prototype alloy from Larrin nsm and Crucible Steel.

The frame handle construction uses black G10 for the frame, with a stub tang to reduce weight. This time the blade is flat ground, to see how it performs with a different geometry.I used some super flashy stabilized maple for the handle scales, some of the last of my stash from my buddy Derrick Wulf when he still lived in Vermont. Overall length is just over 8”, features a 3-1/2” blade, and weighs 3-3/4 ounces.

This one is going to a friend to put it through its paces. With any luck, we’ll both be able to report back with how these blades fared.

I like this one even better than the last one. Well done.

Much like the contouring on the handle of your knife that we worked on together, bud. The photo doesn’t really show the contouring properly - you miss the areas that are oval, flowing into areas that are scalloped. Just looks evenly smoothed out, when it most certainly isn’t. Ergonomics! Who’d have thought!! 🤣

Can I have it? 😀

Don’t you know someone that makes stuff like this? 😉

Oh yeah, flat grind!! How do we get to be "friends"?? :D Would luv to put that to work!!

Perhaps we’ll see what the future holds. 😉

Matt sometimes I forget just what a brilliant knife maker you are.......... 👌 ;)

I’m sure what you meant by ‘brilliant’ is best translated as ‘special needs’. 😉 Thanks, bud.

My deer season has closed, and left me empty-handed. Alas!

My buddy, however, scored himself a tasty doe and put this blade through its paces.

He also mentioned that it breezed through meat, including silver skin, making it easy to separate. The edge was sticky sharp and toothy without ever feeling grabby, or tearing. Knife finished the processing just the way it started. (sweet i4Marc i4Marc chef blade cameo there…)

…perhaps unexpectedly sharp. Happens to the best of us!
