This knife has no manufacturer markings and appears to be homemade. I bought this at an estate sale from a Civil War enthusiast. Please let me know if you can help identify anything about this fixed blade knife. The handle is made of wood and has pins, the blade is a little over 7 inches, and has a leather sheath with the numbers 2278.

Looks like a 'homemade' knife in the sense, that its most likely not made by a pro.

That doenst mean, its a bad knife.

Either old(-ish) or made to look old.

The above would make sense, as it came from the estate of a CW enthusiast/reenactor.

Looks like the sheath is for a different knife. It looks like a 20th century knife given the screws, but that's just a guess. You might have more luck in the Bernard Levine forum. You can get a moderator to move it by clicking Report.

Sheath is definitely not Civil War era. If the blade steel on that knife is stainless that would definitely rule the knife out as well.
