The second piece of essential survival tool

Being on Bladeforums, I'm guessing that the answer to "if you could carry only one piece of gear, no multitool, what would you bring", would probably be "a knife".

However, if we increased the number to TWO, what would be the second piece of essential tool?

Multitools are still cheating.
 
BIC lighter. I love BIC lighters so much!!! It's not even funny how useful, long-lasting and dependable they are.

I thought about posting "tarp" in place of metal pot, but it would be far easier to fashion shelter out of natural materials than a vessel for water.

A Bic would be fine as an alternative to the firesteel.
 
In the north, I will take a lighter over a knife, So fire starter then knife.
 
I would bring a knife,and then
Joezilla,Bushman5 or Mistwalker
They seem to have extensive outdoor skills
and would be a great asset.
Im not calling them "tools" :D
 
I would want a metal pot..... perhaps... even before a knife:eek:.... I know I may get a infraction for that statement.:o Dehydration or the squirts really sucks. During my recent training session, I would have traded my knife for a canteen cup.

I realize you aren't asking for three but here it is in order...

Metal pot
Knife
Bic

So my second would be a KNIFE.:thumbup:
