I'm curious does anyone around here actually buy, sell, trade, a lefty seven or even have or use such a beast. I've noticed for all the emerson talking and post you sure don't see any lefty 7's around. I would think that a right handed person carrying a firearm on their right side would want a knife in their left pocket for being able to get to a weapon in either hand if needed as a last resort. I'm a lefty and have always carried a knife clipped in my right pocket and a sidearm on my left side. It just makes since to me. Thanks,

I carry a right handed CQC7 with the clip swapped for left hand carry. It's an option if you order direct from EKI or you can have it done aftermarket. I've know several other folks that carry the same.

I got on the wait list at Emerson for a factory left hand 7 a couple of years ago. Waited a couple of months, they emailed me and I bought it. Blade grind is the same on a right hand model, but the lock is set up for one handed left hand closure. Works great. Waiting on an email for a left handed Commander.

I carry it every day off hand at work with weapon retention in mind. A right and a left in the picture.

Same here I have a true lefty 7 that can be closed with the left hand also. The only problem is I'm a lefty so I tend to carry a knife on my right side. The lefty Commander sounds interesting although I really need a right handed Emerson. I need to sell this lefty or trade it for a righty I guess. The 7 is also kind of small to me in the blade department. I like about a 4" blade myself.

It took me a long time but I did find a full lefty 7 for my son two years ago. EKI used to do small batch orders but not any more. You could call EKI and ask.

Emerson has lefty 7's in stock now. I have a lefty mini CQC-7BW that I've owned for years. They don't come up that often. Grab one or wait.

The lefty is listed now. This is the left handed frame and lock but still sports the standard right handed chisel blade. They did do one with a left handed blade before making the knife an exact mirror image of the normal right handled model. Have not seen any lefty models on the website for a while until now

I've seen a few custom CQC-7 BW lefty's with the chisel grind on the opposite side. I don't think I've seen a production lefty with a mirror image chisel ground blade (mirror image in that it's opposite). I'd like to see the CQC-7 V in a lefty, that would be my choice.

Funnily enough since I’m ambidextrous particularly for shooting I was having hard time deciding which side I wanted a gun and which side I wanted a knife.

Since most Emerson knives come right handed only but I wanted to reverse wave draw my knife I settled on knife in left pocket. I actually think reverse waving is a far superior wave method since regular waving draws the knife backwards in an awkward pinch grip.

Here’s a video that demonstrates waving vs reverse waving if you don’t know what reverse waving is. T tique Y yasuru give reverse waving a try. You can use your righty Emersons from your left pocket in this way.

The right handed Emersons come with a chisel grind that is better for lefties anyway. If anything a mirrored blade grind on lefty models would be a detriment.

It's odd, I had a couple of left hand chisel grind customs from Deryk Munroe and Warren Thomas and I thought the same thing.

Emerson decided to use a “left hand” chisel grind on even his right hand modelled knives because he felt the bevel grind was more attractive looking on the presentation side of the knife.

So once a lefty learns how to reverse wave their righty Emerson from their left pocket plus the left handed chisel grind on virtually all Emersons, the right handed cqc7 becomes actually an ideal knife for a lefty.

Yes I've done this also a few times, It works pretty well, although I've traded the 7 away as it was just too stubby for me. Thanks,

He's right. I have a pre-ban Not-CQC-6 that is zero ground "properly" (bevel on the clip side) and frankly, when held in standard grip it's kind of ugly. Just a flat bevel-less piece of steel.
