Hello all,

First time posting on the Kershaw forum. I need a lot more posts if I ever want to enter one of there contests.

Anyway, I like the looks of the Shallot. Does anyone have one of these that they can give a little review on? Also is this a bigger version of the Leek?
Looks to be a good EDC knife. Maybe someone could post a picture of a Leek and a Shallot together.

Thanks,
ken

Hello ken...thanks for stopping by.

Since Mark has given you a link for a review, I thought you might like to see the inspiration for the Shallot...Ken O's Dead Sexy!

Thanks for the replies-

Markksr:

Thanks for the link. Great review and excellent photos. Glad I asked because I didn't even notice that it didn't have thumbstuds on the blade or the speedsafe lock. Doesn't seem to matter.

SPXTrader:

That is "Dead Sexy". I wonder if form follows function. I've read yours and Markksr postings here on the fourms. You must be big fans of kershaws.

I like your user name...what is SPXTrader?anything to that?

Thanks again,
ken

Ken, I will admit to being a Kershaw fanboy. I've owned Spydercos, BM (still have one), CRKT and Emersons. I still have my old Schrade Sharpfingers, a few Kosters and a Shun in the kitchen, and a Sebenza, along with a RAT Cutlery RC-4 and various assorted other brands accumulated over the years. I have found that Kershaw delivers the best value and quality for my money. Their CS is the best I've seen, and I really like the people that work there...along with the regulars that hang out here. The technology Kershaw is using in their composite blades is years ahead of the competition, and having working relationships with the likes of custom makers Ken Onion, the Hawks, Tim Galyean, R J Martin and Lee Williams allow me to experience their designs but at a greatly reduced price without sacrificing quality. 2009 will bring a new Kershaw/Sandvik exclusive steel that I'm looking forward to using. In short, they are on top of their game and I love it!

As for my username, its my work for the last 23 years...I'm a technical market analyst and portfolio manager. SPX is the NYSE ticker symbol for the Standard & Poor's 500 Index.

Stick around and have some fun! But watch out for that offsetlover guy...

I missed the ZDP-189 Mini-Cyclone, but I ain't gonna miss the composite Shallot! :)

There's a thread on it if you haven't seen it yet.

I got a black Shallot in a trade a few days ago and I am extremely happy with the knife. It is indeed sexy as hell. Everybody I show it to likes it and wants to hold it & check it out. This is my first flipper; I sit around playing with every day when I get home. Been carrying it as my "steppin out" knife rather than as a work knife so I haven't really used it for any serious cutting yet. Can't bring myself to mar the flat black finish on that beautiful recurve blade. The usual superb Kershaw quality. I recommend this knife to anyone.

A++

Hey Everybody,
Just got mine this week from NG. It's my first Kershaw; my wife carries a Needs Work. I added some non grit marine grip tape. Picture was taken on prototype Tiger stripe ACU couch:D. The Shallot's a great knife.

I like that b7...I've always thought they needed a little more grip. I'm going to send one to STR to see if he can do the non-lock side in G-10 somehow.

I've got a Shallot. It opens fast, and came very sharp. If you get one you will not regret it.

That sounds like a good idea, SPX

Let us know how it turns out.

Two members of the Michigan Army National Guard are about to recieve one Shallot each, free, as my way of saying thanks for what they have done and will do. Later, Bob
