I realise that most of us are at least amateurs as far as cutlery is concerned . We surely all like a nicely made blade . I wager that at least some of us extend this to all our cutlery ? When did we start using forks as opposed to spooning our tasty treats . I have feasted a time or two where the main implements were a wooden spoon and bowl . While I am not opposed to eating in this manner ,
it is not entirely to my taste . (real bad pun intended ) When did we start using simple forms of forks and knives and which came first . I have no doubt it was the knife for stabbing but there must have been different levels of refinement due to circumstance ? Certainly spooning up a stew or soup would be the way to go . I am interested in learning about (and possibly making) a simple two tined fork . If there is any information as to flat forks as opposed to curved tines that would be of interest as well .
