I was contacted by a marine, Robert, to make a knife he had designed. This is in the sandbox fighting terrorists as you read this. Tell me what you think, he wants to hear other peoples thoughts.
thanks
Paul

I'd go for more point, less aggressive serrations.
Those serrations might get stuck on a stab.
Looks like it'd be tough though, and cut quite well.
All depends on his intended uses for it, I suppose.
P.S.-looking at it again, I don't think it COULD stab, so the serrations shouldn't get stuck.

blade shape seems like it would be good for chopping up food or something, but the handle is a bit small, so maybe like vegetables or something?
I'm not sure what those serations are capable of, never seen any that large.

Hey people like what they like though, more power to you guys. give your friend our best.

Interesting design. Looks very well made. That is a lot of sharp, exposed edges for my taste though. Ah well, if it works and he's happy then it's all good!

I would like that knife/blade shape a ton without the serrations, just for a general use.

Those serrations look really mean. I just know I would split my thumb by putting it on the spine. They need to be further forward so my thumb can't reach them when I forget.

Handle surely needs to be longer or you will lose the grip with intense use, ending up cutting yourself or dropping the knife. Also thats the biggest serration I've ever seen. It's cool and scary looking but what it's practical use? Only crashing terrorist's bones and sculls, but agane when it anchors itself with a striking force, it will be hard to pull it back out immideatly due to a limited grip.

The serrations purpose, I was told, were more for grabbing and pulling. While the handle was kept small, almost like a bulb, to fit in the palm.
thanks for the comments!

Hi guys, first of all I would like to thank Paul for making this for me. His work is of the highest quality. I wanted this as a fighting knife that had some practical purposes as well. The serrations are a bit large, but still work great. Each of the serrations are sharpened and can cut seat belts, 550 cord or whatever you need. It does have a tip, but I didn't plan on using it for stabbing. If I had to it would and the serrations would cut up and the blade would cut down. So I don't think it would get stuck. I want to use it in a reverse grip to cut and use the spine to grab and trap. The serrations will definately hold on or cut through.

Regardless I am very happy with the knife and it was great to see an idea go from a piece of paper to a knife in my hand. Paul was great to work with and I would recommend anyone that has an idea, have him make it for you. I think I will have him make one a little smaller next time. But this is on my body armor and is already at work.

Thanks again Paul - from Iraq Rob (PS - this was 1 of 5 knives I got from Paul and they are all great)

What unit are you with? Where you at?

I'm swamped, and finding this late. Just wanted to say - riggerrobert, thanks for your service. Glad to have you posting here, and good luck in the 'box.

thx - cpr

Definitely, thanks for your service. Sounds like you're holding the place together. :)

It's a distinctive blade, reminiscent of the old Hobbit Warrior, but much more compact. I can see those serrations as a control factor in reverse grip.
