When compared to any of my other knives, none of my Benchmades have been very sharp out of the box, have you ever encountered an out of the box Benchmade that rivaled, say, a Spyderco in sharpness?

Thanks a lot,
Sol

When I got my AFCK a year ago, I felt that it wasn't as sharp as my CS LTC kukri. I found that odd, since the kukri is a chopper and I thought it would have a relatively blunter but more durable edge than a folder! I actually wondered whether AST-34 was junk!

About three years ago I ordered a mini-AFCK that turned out to be as sharp as any knife I have ever owned . . . . and I have a large Sebenza and several good Spyderco's. Recently bought an original issue m2 AFCK which was respectably sharp. But, the 710 Axis I now own came butterknife dull and even after resharpening by Benchmade is still not satisfactory. Lost the mini-AFCK in the back yard . . . and I still look for it on a routine basis. Maybe someday,

My experiences with Benchmade have'nt been bad.The first one I got was a butterfly #45.A very well made knife but not too sharp. The next was the latter model cheaper butterfly-same thing. Then I bought a Stryker-well made and very sharp. The last one was an Axis 710-very sharp and one of my favorites.I guess I've been lucky cause I hear about a lot of people that get dull Benchmade knives or ones that are'nt ground evenly.I know many customers don't like their Q.A.

I actualy did see a sharp right-out-of-the-box BM. It was my friend's Tsunami.
