I haven't been around here much lately.
Moving, new job, Covid, and my seasonal distaste for the internet. (Sometimes I enjoy it, other times I loathe it)

But something happened today. it was in no way epic. It wasn't even important.
I have done some epic things with my Fiddleback Forge Knives over the years. They have always been up to the challenge.

But today, on this Memorial Day, as I reflect on why we have this holiday. Thinking about all those who made the ultimate sacrifice, so others could share some hot dogs and cold beers. And allow me the freedom to sit and type this. I was afforded a simple treat.

It got me to thinking, many of the things that give me joy are fairly simple.

I was pawing through a box of knives today, pondering on what I might sell, trade, or keep. Quite by accident, I saw my Fiddleback Terrasaur. I took it out, wiped it down and left it on the kitchen table.

As luck would have it. I had some leftover steak from Saturday night. So I decided to have a steak sandwich for lunch. Since my Terrasaur was laying there on the table anyway, I decided to use it.

I just have to say, it was pure joy shaving that steak up for sandwich meat. I said shaving as opposed to slicing, because the Terrasaur was laying aside pieces so thin you could almost read through them.

Climbing hills, camping, and bushcrafting with my Fiddlebacks is always a pleasure. But today, it was the simple act of making a sandwich that had me smiling from ear to ear.

The handle shape, the blade geometry, the edge, the overall beauty of the knife, it all conspired to make me grin.

Simple Pleasures!!

I've purchased many knives from many makers. When it comes down to what I like and what matters most to me, there are only a few. Fiddleback Fiddleback is right there. I love my fiddleback Forge knives. I think also what makes them even more special to me is the maker (Andy) and @VANCE (phillip). Guys we can all call our friends!! The combination of well made knives and customer service, what is not to like? Fiddleback Forge, after all, is what brought me to the blade forum to begin with. So I can't agree more with the posts previous to mine and what will come behind this post. Smiles a plenty when I'm using, admiring, hoarding, showing off, etc etc. my Fiddleback Forge Knives. Great story LostViking LostViking and it's good to see you back around.
