The Sirupati family: What is the reason they are thinner than other Khukuris?

While looking at the variety of Khukuri pictures in the FAQ section, I noticed some Sirupati blades, but the majority of the knives had wider blades. I was wondering if anyone here knows how the Sirupati style Khkuris came to be. I find the Sirupati line very pleasing to the eye. Any info would bew helpful.

I believe, (this may be wrong) the sirupati came from the Rai tribes in Burma, used more as a combative weapon because it was thinner and easier to manage, yet could stll cleave a head right off.

I am not sure but the Rai and Limbu folks of Eastern Nepal have been using the Sirupati for a long time and it remains their favorite.

Someone mentioned that the vegetation around the Rai and Limbu is more jungle like. There is less heavy chopping and more brush clearing. This might account for the thinner construction of the Sirupati style.
