The "size up" from Native 5?

I really like my Native 5 - the feel of the scales, the liners, the back lock, the closed back. If I wanted to go one size up, which other Spyderco model would be the best fit in terms of being similar? (Does not have to be a back lock.)

I am preferring a solid feel over lightness (which is why I don't like the PM2 much, it just feels too flimsy in comparison).

Thanks for your time!

Caly 3.5 might work, though it is a little lighter than the Native 5 even though it has full stainless liners. The Manix 2 might also be worth a look.

Perhaps a CF Stretch?

Same feel? Try out the Gayle Bradly w/ CB scales or the Delica or Endura in G10 if you can find one in the open markey

I would second the Gayle Bradley. Very similar size to the PM2 just heavier with the thickest liner lock I have ever seen.

What native do you have, FRN or G10?

If you have a G10 and like the feel I'd say the Caly 3.5 but the VG-10/G10 version (the the ZPD-189/CF version is my favorite but I think if you like the native G10 you'd like the caly G10).

OTOH if its the FRN version you like I once again agree with Cynic and say the stretch. It, like the native, really fills your hand and is ergonomic (without having the "tactical" finger groves like the delica/endura*), there is also a ZDP-189 version and I believe a LE in super blue blade steel.

*i don't mind the delica handle, I have a D4 in my EDC rotation and the handle fits my hand well, but that formed style/look isn't the most astetically pleasing is what I meant by that comment.

Ditto on the Gayle Bradley. It cand rust, but just a little oil on it and your good to go. Nice and beefy, great cutter.

I can't believe no one has suggested the Manix 2. Same leaf shaped blade, different grind though. Not a back lock, but if you haven't tried the cbbl then you're really missing out.

Was just looking at Manix 2. From the look of it, it seems like a bigger brother of Native... Might check it out.

The Domino would be a good candidate. It's quite solid and has similar ergos to the Native 5 but in a a little larger package.

If one thinks the PM2 feels flimsy , he ll think the Stretch feels very flimsy. Try the Gayle Bradley.

I would say the Manix 2 CTS-BD30p sprint is the closest along with the other Manix 2 FFG sprints. The Manix 2 XL is and even larger and similar also. They are both similar to the N5.I have all three and consider them very similar except the lock. You can still find the Manix 2 CTS-BD30p sprint on the exchange now and then.

Wow, the PM2 flimsy. I must admit that the word flimsy never crossed my mind when handling one. Rock solid, yes, flimsy, never.

I think it is well built, the PM2, nothing wrong with it. But I prefer knives that have a bit more of a solid feel to them. Thicker scales etc.

I guess instead of flimsy I should say "light weight" - I know a lot of people like them, and I am not getting rid of it.
