No, this isn't a thread about using a potato to get a patina. My oldest uncle, my fathers older brother, is a shorter guy than my father and my other uncle, the baby, and the biggest of the three. He always said the smaller the potato, the tougher to peel. He is the big brother I aspire to be. Don't always make it, but I try.

Just wanted to show off some of my favorite stubby fellas. I am embarassed about the state of the Case peanut, but hey, it's a user and it's carbon steel. The middle one, an older Remington peanut, was a gift from jackknife. I have been humbled by Carl's generosity in the past, and am humbled again. I have thought about getting a Case peanut and removing the pen blade, or finding an older one with a stick of a pen blade, so I can just have a single blade model. This one fits that bill perfectly, and I find myself using it a lot. I have big ham hock hands, and this knife is still comfortable. The third one is my swayback gent. I got it, and it went directly in the knife roll. I lost my Case peanut, and started carrying the SBG. That was short lived as I foudn the peanut the next day, but I was hooked on the SBG. Sometimes, I carry all three. OCD and all that.

Don't be embarrassed about the peanut, Dan. It looks great, like it's fulfilling it's destiny of being a cutting tool. It's a user, like you say, and is picking up great character.

Carl.
