Some time ago and with a lot of thoughts what was good knifes for me I desided I wanted to go the path for yet another userknife. I had seen the 3.5 inches minitrapper. I had tested the size for 1/2 a year in a medium CV stockman and the pattern in a large stainless trapper. This 2 knifes was a generous gift from SunnyD. After that I tested some bying inside Europe and notised this went much faster postalwize and no taxes in the custums as I got my Case CV sodbuster jr from a forummember. My mind now went about thinking on a Case CV chestnut mini trapper. An opportunity showed up in holland where a member of this forum had a rather flawless example he didnt going to keep. I wasnt in a desperate need of this knife but the chanse to get a quality checked minitrapper would be foolich to pass.
My thoughts about tellling this ways to get the hands on these knifes has the purpose to show what a nice place this is for a man living in a far away place to get help to try things that never show up here without some struggle.

So what about the trapper. I realy like the 3.5 size, the smallest Im willing to carry as EDC. Nowadays almost also the biggest Im willing to carry. Im very fond of this size.
The knife was very nice, Middlestrong walk and talk as I want it. and no bladeplay what so ever. It came sharp but I honed it all the same as usuall as I wanted it realy sharp. This was my fifth case in 3 years and they all have had a little rounded tips , witch I cant stand so also this is a purpose with the stones. The little special shaped clip is now like a needle. As it got a realy sharp point I notised that the tip was straight in line with the handle so I filed a little on the kick to berry the tip deeper into the handle. Next great thing about this was that when the clipblade got a lower position into the handle the spayblade got easy to pinch open. Great feature for a lefthanded user, and I now mean really easy for the pinchgrip. Im very partial to bonehandles nowadays (with exeption from my sodbuster witch is just fine with yellow delrin) and the chestnut is realy a beautiful quality of bone. About the CV blades I have already written a lot but the fact I wanted it again talks its own language. This is realy a terrific pattern and this size makes it wery EDC friendly.
I still dont know If I like this mini trapper quite as good as the 3.5 inch stockman but its a close call. This knife will go into a EDC rotation of a few knifes, patternwise and qualitywize, quite different than I could dreem of just a few years ago.
This knife can very well be my last slipjoint for a long time as Im not very curious at new slipjoints at the moment and my only lust is for a knutbuster. Its kind of when eating an exelent dinner, when you have eaten enough its time to digest.

Very nice!! I have always like the handle shape. It is considered by some to be the most comfortable handle. If you like bone,Queen or S&M bone will be a delight to you. Enjoy it in good health.

God Bless

I could be wrong, but I think if you give the mini trapper a fair shot, you won't be disappointed.

Easy in pocket, comfortable in hand, and big enough for most tasks... Plus the simplicity of two blades. YMMV

Hi,

Nice pickup NirreBosse. The Mini-Trapper is a fine pattern, one of my favorites. And I agree with you on the size. 3 1/2" is just about perfect in the pocket. And the clip and long spey blades give an excellent combination of blades for using on day to day tasks. I think you will be very happy with it in your pocket.

After a little more using of this mini trapper I think its very nice to have two longer blades. Most of what I do edc is best done with a blade of say at least 6 cm or even 7 cm. I also like that bouth the blades resists in one end of the knife and is devided by a spacer, easy to keep clean that way. And the halfstops is nice.
Its forming a patina with much yellow in it, first time that colour arices for me, but i recon its soon deep gray as usual.
