Was in my local Wal-Mart Supercenter tonight, they have dropped the price of The Snow Walker DVD from 16.72 to 9.44.

Cool Movie!

Excellent DVD, lots of good survival "To-Do" and "NOT-To-Do"s. Annabella Piugattuk, the young (unknown) actress in the film is an Inuit who knew first-hand how to do many of the things in the film. The behind the scenes takes on the DVD are very entertaining.

I almost picked this up at the video store today. I wasn't sure if it was well done or not. If it gets your vote of confidence I might have to try it out when i head back tommorow.

It's a really straight up decent "wilderness movie", it's based on the Farley Mowat story "Walk With Me Brother".

Solid wilderness skills movie, the only slight blooper is the presence of a Buck 110 in a movie set in 1953. About ten years early for the knife.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the movie. Gonna run over to Wallyworld later today and check out the DVDs. Thanks for the heads up.

I went back to the video store and rented Snow Walker yesterday. I just finished it up a few minutes ago and I have to say I'm really very impressed. A lot of the stuff that goes straight to DVD nowadays is a helluva lot better than the crap they show in the theatres. Thanks for pointing this one out fellas. :p

Because of this thread, I went and got myself a copy of this DVD; turns out to be one of the best movies I've seen all summer (theatrical "blockbusters" included). A touching, beautifully made film. I'm Canadian, and I didn't know this movie even existed!

It's a shame that such a wonderful movie can go so unnoticed -- theres hardly a negative review of it anywhere:

I'm glad this thread came back up, I need to correct myself, the movie is not based on the Farley Mowat story "Walk With Me My Brother", it was "Walk Well My Brother". Sorry for the error.

I too picked up this movie learning about it from this thread. Loved it. BTW, aren't pilots supposed to have some sort of survival training?

Yeah, the character flew over Europe in the war, but I don't think Arctic survival was part of the Army Air Corp training in WW2???

Anyone know????

Got the movie because of this thread. Started watching it friday night at a time we normally go to bed, so wasn't expecting to finish it, but we watched it through the end in one go. Really nice.
Also got me in a good mood for the bushcraft training in 2 weeks. :)
