So i got the SOG flashback in the mail today. It looks nice and feels nice. has a nice sharp blade and is centered great. a microscopic amount of blade play but thats it. My main issue with it is the locking mechanism... Its so stiff that deploying the blade hurts your thumb and disengaging the lock tears up your thumb. I got it in the mail and within the first couple minutes my thumb started to hurt and its still sore now (hours later). I dont know if i got a defective blade or what but im gonna have to ding SOG one last time because the blade cannot be taken apart (found out while trying to see what the problem was).

Sounds like you got a defective one.
The piston lock definitely should not be that stiff. Rather defeats the purpose of the "fastest" assisted opener.
The one's Ive handled/seen were not at all like that.

Its possible it will settle down with time and effort, but I'd be inclined to return it to SOG or the dealer (unless you got way to creative finding out it could not be taken apart :D).
It's a brand new model for SOG that they seem very proud of and I doubt they want you having a poor example.
And who knows, you might get one with no play.

It's not an isolated incident. I have seen several people, myself included, that are very disappointed with the SOG Flashback. Received mine three days ago and the coil spring and lock are extremely stiff. Not a fun knife at all.
