I recently learned about an old old old SOG knife called the Nite Tech. After a bit of archive searching I learned that it is something of a grandfather of the SEAL 2000. Here are descriptions I found:
"....Nite Tech; A stealthy version of the SOG Tech II. It has a one-piece Kraton handle (no brass cross guard) and a blued, 7" carbon steel blade in the same dimensions of the Tech II (or SEAL Knife). I don't know how many were made, but not too many. If it is in a good condition, it is likely a collector's item."
"....The Nite Tech ... gun blued, carbon steel (SK-5) versions of the SOG Tech II .... low production model (but not "limited production" models) and stopped production in the earlier to mid 1990's."
"....Nite Tech. SK-5 carbon steel, 7" blade with no serrations, Kraton handle, blued blade, a near carbon copy of the SEAL knife in dimensions. It was in production around the early 90s and hasnt been sold by SOG for many years. It's a variation of the SOG Tech II...also discontinued."
Anyway, I contacted two Forum posters who had owned a Nite Tech way-back-when.
One fellow still had his and after some good-natured haggling the Nite Tech was waiting quietly on my doorstep when I returned home last night. I'll give a thorough check-out over the next few days and report what I learn.
Here is what is probably a catalog picture, I don't know.
