I've been looking at these and they look awesome. That push button release just makes me a little nervous. Does anyone have any experience with these things yet? I like the hunter version and it seems great for everything in a camping situation. I just want to be absolutely positive that I'm not going to grab that handle too hard and have it "revolve" on me and send either the blade or the saw through my hand. What are everyone's thoughts on these knives? One thing I likes about them was how small they were in real life. They look huge on the SOG site, but i got a look at one at the SMKW shop in Sevearville (sp) and it was nice and medium sized. Looks like a easily carry and storable knife.

Dylside, the SOG Hunter Revolver is a great hunting, camping or survival knife. They have been on the market for about 4 years and have proven themselves time and time again.

The blade locks solid within the handle. It also has a "hidden" stop in the handle to back up the pin lock............and if thats not enough........the blades are designed with big flat, dull surfaces opposite the cutting surfaces.

Rotation of the blades always push the "dull" side towards your hand (since you always push down to cut or saw) by any pressure exerted to make any cut.........It works perfectly.

Glad you got to handle one at Smoky mountain knife......my favorite place in the world. :)

See this link........and there are many more reviews to be found.

Thanks Robbie. You're the man. I think I need to add one of these to my gear.Looks like a great fishing, skinning, and shelter building knife.

Robbie,I have 2 revolver and really like them both. Thanks for anwsering Dylside question, which I was wondering the same thing. One question I have is what type of steel is used in the SOG revolver?
thanks PJ

Patrickjames, glad to help.

All SOG Revolver knives use AUS-8 stainless.

I have found I simply can not do without my saw blade.

And knowing it is incorporated with my knife makes me feel better somehow.......:o

Fonly, thanks for posting those reviews and nice pics.

It's funny, I sometimes take short walks in the woods near my house and just can not go without my Hunter Revolver strapped on my side........I know it's silly, but what if I needed to cut or saw a limb or tree. :o

Now it's just a matter of getting the money up to buy one. I'm in the process of getting my pictures and list together to sell my knife and sword collection all but a select few such as my two SOG Recon Bowies. Hopefully that will get me a pretty good deal of fun tickets and some of those will go towards my new Revolver.

Robbie certainly seems to know a lot about them... I wonder why???;)
Nice knife, I have one, but haven't dared use it yet, I'll need to get a user:D
