the SOG Sculptura: how do YOU open it?

the Sculptura is on my hit list, and i've been reading a lot of old threads and reviews before i yummy down on it. one thing that seems to be a bit "up in the air" is how folks open the thing. it uses SOG's arc-lock, which apparently is similar to BM's AXIS mechanism (or am i way off on this?).

i read one or two posts where folks vaguely mentioned "flicking" it open, and more than one post in which people complained that the Sculp' was difficult to open. i'm not opposed to flicking the blade, i just want to know if that's how it's done. if it's troublesome to open, i'll just pass altogether. i was just so enamored with the shape, that if reasonably simple to open AND close, i'll be sure to pick one up.

A friend has one and he flicks it open. Yes, the SOGs lock is close to the Axis lock. I tried the Sculptura and a BM side by side in the store and the SOG opened more smoothly for me.

It's a nice knife and I hope to have one some day.

The Sculptura is very, very easy to open. I just pinch the blade with two fingers and pull it open while it's in the palm of my hand. That may sound difficult, but it's really very simple. As for flicking, that's very easy if you want to do it that way.

Its actualy increadibly fast and simple. you pull back the lock, flick your wrist, and its open. to close, you simply pull back the lock and use your index finger to push it close like on any folder. not difficult at all.
