The Soldat!

You might find this model isn't the best, or most popular Benchmade ever was. It's light for one reason due to not having liners of any kind, and the one I looked at was really broad across the handle scales. Although USA made the Grip in any flavor would be the better choice. But for the price point maybe buy a couple for the glove box just in case.

I will.
I will make an order tomorrow.
I also like the linerless handle slabs.

Had one. Very light as stated, but it was too thick for pocket carry. I liked the lock button and the action was very smooth, however getting it open could be a chore due to the handle thickness and short thumbstuds. YMMV.

I have one; as stated, the handle is a bit on the thick side for a folder this size. The opening hole is also partially obstructed by the handle when opening.
Other than that, the actions smooth and is flick-able w/ the hole or by pressing the lock. I personally find the steels edge holding a bit lacking, but it sharpens up easily.

Thanks.^
Being able to flick the knife open, via the button, this one might be a keeper.
I hope to have mine by the end of the week.

Rolf,Did you get your soldat yet.

I have the black plain edge clip point version and I was able to swing the blade open with the push button fully depressed.

No. I will have 'er on Monday.
I saw a guy on you tube open his Soldat in that manner. cool.
How do you like your Soldat?

Rolf,I've owned it for about a year now.I have to admit haven't used it extensively but probably just a few weeks of EDCing - opening mail, cutting fruit like apples and oranges, some light whittling, and the such then placed away in a drawer. Then off to my next knife purchase.

As for the comments about the chunky handle being overly thick,I have to disagree as for the thickness is made up by it's slimmer width and smaller handle circumference.Another thing that I've noticed,as I only have two button lock folders both Bokers', is there is no circular arc cutout in the blade for the blade to lock open.Instead the blade is like the standard right angle style tang found on all there knives with a stop pin resting just behind the jimping,on this model, the button lock lies across the other end on a flat tang.As for the N680 blade from the factory arrived razor sharp and had a a nice toothness to the edge, and the edge was easily touched up.The handle is made of grivory with a diamond pattern with does not prove much texture and is still pretty slick. As for the lightness mentioned by many that is attributed by the extensive skeletonizing and has not liners. As for the blade after light use the BK coating shows little wear unlike the cerakote on my BM710.

IHMO,the Soldat is not a bad buy for the money which can be had for around the $30 - 40 range but is no Bm griptillian. For the people, reading this,if you're using this knife as a knife and not a pry tool I see no reason why this knife shouldn't last.

I just got mine, Tanto combo edge. I really like this folder and will EDC it. For the price-point, this Soldat is a favorite folder. I actually like the fat handle. It really fills the hand yet the folder is so light in weight.
You all need to try a Soldat.
Thank you for the review, razorburn.

One more thing... the button does NOT have to be pressed down for the blade to flick open.
cool...
