Hello all!

My name is Lance and I am graduating soon with a BFA in Industrial Design. Throughout my past semester I have been working on a project involving Micarta or laminated Fabric. My goal was to create a piece of furniture using a material that hadn't yet been seen the production of furniture. I have gained much knowledge from reading these forums on the creation of Micarta. So as a big thank you I am presenting: "the Sonder Liebe Lounge". I have submitted to Art Prize this year so if you would like to see it in person keep a eye out for it this year at the show!

Bloody brilliant mate, good to see the use of Micarta outside of knife scales.
We took the use of Corian from interior design and now something given back!
I've seen trays and other household articles made from Micarta but nothing like a seat.
The supporting framework doesn't look as good owing to the paler patches showing against the black, it would have been better in the same style as the seat, maybe less colours - two or three - would look good. Just my 2p worth.

Thanks! The base has been a object of discussion lately. What I am thinking is maybe a grid structure welded together supporting it. The organic with the geometric. But thanks for the reply!

Will some sort of sharpened steel cutting implement be included?

Nothing to do with knives at all, no need for it to be in General Knife Discussion.

If you folks would mind sending me to the right section of Bladeforums that would be wonderful cause I learned about this process through this knife forum. I assumed the artistic nature of how Micarta is used within the process of adding decorate element to ones knife was appreciated here. So I figured I would post this as a thanks for the knowledge I received within these forums.

And oh ya Sorry but the base is made out of fiberglass and aluminum mesh which were pretty sharp to work with sometimes and did cut myself kinda like a knife would. And did use a pretty sweet knife to cut the foam tubing. It was one of those forever sharp ones. And let me tell you those things are wonderful! You can cut through card board, aluminum flashing, grandmas fruit cake, and not to mention still after all that being able to delicately serrate a fresh loaf of bread. Now thats a knife.

-Thanks

I think the base should either be as organic as the seat, maybe like a yree trunk/toadstool effect, OR something utterly crisp and geometric for contrast. Cool idea!!!
