Cool Video Mike!

I heard it is so hot down there in Texas right now you can temper them by setting them outside.

Sorry, but I found this disappointing. I believe in the spirit of the blade, as per Ed Fowler, Phill Hartsfield, Clestin Sinyard, or old Japanese swords. If there was any spirit in this blade, I'd guess the "music" in the video would have scared it away. :thumbdn:

So, you're willing to believe in the spirit of the blade, but only on terms you're willing to accept. Interesting...

Nice one, Mike! I must admit, the music is not my taste, either, but there's no denying your passion for this stuff! Slippers, Tom Tongs, respirator, totally white outfit - nothing but pro! :D

Great Post... I see a Huge Marketing Angle contained in your words..
My pitbulls are accustomed to guns shots and excessively loud machinery, its just part of their life..
I cant have a dog that is scared of "Noise"

I cant have a Spirit that is scared of "Noise" either..

Spirits have to be pretty tough down here in South Texas.. I cant have a spirit that is going to get scared when it hears a little rap or trap muzik..
The spirits have to be streadfast and they have to be able to handle all kinds of music without getting scared away (including bluegrass)

How do you know Ed Fowler doesnt listen to Waka Flocka Flame???

Here is the bottom line.. If you dont want to worry about the Spirit running off and leaving you and your spiritless blade helplessly standing there while gang members steal your shoes and turn you into a buster then buy a SnodyKnife.

My spirits are conditioned in the shop to what they might encounter in the ghetto.. I simply can not have a spirit getting scared in the ghetto and bailing out on me...
If our spirits got scared everytime they heard a little rap muzic we would be in Big Trouble down here in the Dirty South

Thanks for posting..

Thanks Friend.
Reading your post really started my morning/week off well
I really appreciate it.. I needed a good start this week...

I like the knives and the music, you have to have fun while you work on something so serious.

I find when I have been in the shop all day focusing on details rap music helps keep me pumped to keep going, it makes it more of a party. I listen to all kinds of music, classic rock, metal, etc but a beat is nice to work to, rap is all about doing your own thing and keeps me motivated.

I guess there's room in this world for all kinds of spirits. :D

Outstanding!!
Have a great week..
Respect..

Perhaps it's just me, but when I quench a blade in oil, I feel a "hum" as the martensite sets up. It is the closest I get to spirituality.

I like the tunes!

Thanks Rossi! I'm really liking where you are going with your work, keep the spirit pure. :D

Hi Mike

Great reply to that other gentleman about spirits needing to be tough and hard core, I couldn't agree more!

I saw one guy on the forums who had attached to his signature this quote, paraphrased " men are like steel, when they lose their temper they're worthless ". I don't think that you can speak any truer words than those.

Keep on rocking it out Bro, you're definitely top of the food chain in the knife makers world!

i cant imagine a snody blade running from anything. mine certainly has spilled its share of guts. dutch that is.

Mike, you truly are a very interesting person!
You know how to mix spirit with material and take it
even further by exposing the spirit in your steel...

You remind me of a poem Van Barnett wrote about
his interrelationship with steel. I think you will like it:

How and Why
Artistry from the mind
with a breath of life from the soul,
a thousand thoughts and possibilities
to make each creation whole.
The need to share what I felt
when I gave the steel life,
for each piece is a feeling
I never have twice.
I wish to share what I am
so that all may understand,
that they hold part of me
within the palm of their hand.
For as those who have gone
and those yet to be,
their creations will remain
for all the world to see.
So I create what I feel
whether in steel, canvas or clay,
and share what’s within
with each passing day.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

If you quench a big enough blade in parks #50, it's more like a howl.:D
