Just got an old 501 back from the spa today. It needed the treatment, and actually cleaned up relatively decent on the bolsters. It wasn't too bad off when I sent it in, just old and could use some love. Not really impressed, but I wasn't expecting it to look new after 30+ years of use. Overall, I can't complain.
My question, is should I have expected less from them when it comes to opening/closing action? It's gritty, like there's sand or something in there. I don't know if that's the case, but that is what it feels like. That was one of the reasons I sent it in, but it came back in equally gritty and subpar condition as far as the action is concerned. It even still picks up dirt and grim every time you open it (it has to be wiped off each time before closing). Is that something they can't do anything about? If that is the case, what does a person do to smooth out the opening/closing action? If Buck 'cant' do it, does that mean it's a lost cause? Just curious. Maybe I was expecting entirely too much in hoping it would open and close smoother when I got it back. I appreciate everyone's feedback.
