Hey guys, maybe the people at kershaw can answer this. I was wondering why the Spec Bump has the pocket clip for tip down carry only--this is the sole reason that makes me not want to buy it. I only carry tip-up and I can't change the way I grab a knife, but why no holes for tip-up? Is there a way you guys could possibly make the Spec Bump compatible for tip-up, or will I just have to drill and tap the holes myself?
Thanks!

not sure why they do that, but i think STR can tweak it for ya, dunno. u will have to ask him

In this particular case, the clip has a custom shape straight from the Ken Onion design that only fits the handle shape properly the way it's attached...

They could have used a different clip, but it wouldn't be true to the design.

The reason you can't carry tip up is b/c there isn't enough room at the end of a handle for a clip. If they attached one there would be and inch of knife sticking out of your pocket.

STR could proabaly force a Ti Low Rider but then it would get in the way when holding the knife. Due to the Palm Swells on this knife the clip has to sit basically flat as is.

Once you get used to tip down, it's not a problem. What really messes with my head for a while is first carrying the SB...it takes a day or two to stop reaching for a liner/frame lock. Then after a week, and another Kershaw in my pocket, I keep reaching for the stud lock that isn't there!

Brad...

You're right on the money with that one...same problem here...

Ray :)

Sorry guys, I can't and will not carry tip-down--dropped way too many knives that way. I love how the hand grabs a knife when it is tip up--deployment happens in a second.

Thanks for the link SVRider, I'll give it a shot...

It looks like it would work though... I think you would be able to invert it just fine.

Thanks again,
-Mitch
