I went down to the Spirit of Steel show this weekend and I had a great time. I wanted to meet some of the local makers that live around the D/FW area. Among these are Brad Duncan and David Broadwell. I sent a large amount of time talking with both men.
I first saw Brad Duncans knives last year and I had called him of the the phone and talked about his knives. We discussed learning how to make knives. I attended the Blade show but I didn't get a chance to inspect his knives until the Spirit of Steel show this weekend.
I thinked I handled every knife on the table and asked a great number of questions. He was patient with me and answered all my questions.
The thing I was most interested in was the pivot system he uses on his folders. It is pressed into the blade and works great. I was amazed at how smooth the action is on his knives. It is quite addicting to sit there and flick his knives open with just a little kick of the thumb.
Most of the knives on the table were the new Shapfusion blades. I am impressed with the process. This looks to be a great addition to his and Mike Snody's knives.
I didn't get to buy a folder at the show due to lack of funds but I did pick up a cool little fixed blade from Brad. I am looking forward to testing out this little fighter. I will post a review later.
The show was great and I had a lot of fun.
