I went down to the Spirit of Steel show this weekend and I had a great time. I wanted to meet some of the local makers that live around the D/FW area. Among these are Brad Duncan and David Broadwell. I sent a large amount of time talking with both men.

I first saw Brad Duncans knives last year and I had called him of the the phone and talked about his knives. We discussed learning how to make knives. I attended the Blade show but I didn't get a chance to inspect his knives until the Spirit of Steel show this weekend.

I thinked I handled every knife on the table and asked a great number of questions. He was patient with me and answered all my questions.

The thing I was most interested in was the pivot system he uses on his folders. It is pressed into the blade and works great. I was amazed at how smooth the action is on his knives. It is quite addicting to sit there and flick his knives open with just a little kick of the thumb.

Most of the knives on the table were the new Shapfusion blades. I am impressed with the process. This looks to be a great addition to his and Mike Snody's knives.

I didn't get to buy a folder at the show due to lack of funds but I did pick up a cool little fixed blade from Brad. I am looking forward to testing out this little fighter. I will post a review later.

The show was great and I had a lot of fun. :D

I met Brad at last years Spirit of Steel and bought one of his knives. It was nice, but not of the quality of some of the other makers. A few months later, the quality of his knives upgraded and since then, they have really soared. I picked up a "Whiplash" with the new stellite process this weekend. I plan on making it my edc and it is scary sharp. I'll give you guys a report on how it holds up. I bet it works real well. Brad is making some good stuff.

Big Tex!

I am sure you will be as impressed with your Whiplash in stellite as I am with mine. I only had mine for 5 days, and it has become my "edc", and have been looking for things to cut, even went into the garbage can digging out plastic, cardboard, etc. to thrash. Want to see how well it holds an edge compared to my talonite blades. Plus it is just fun while sitting, and watching the boob tube to work the action of the knife(I have the D/A model). I also had compared it to some of his earlier made knives, and called him on the phone expressing on how I was impressed with his newer models, and the newer style of blade he is now using. Nice guy to talk to, and seems to like input on his knives.

Let us know after you have tested it some what you input is, and how well you like it.

This Sharpfusion seems to be some of the neatest, and great new type of blade material out there for the moment anyway.

Just my .02 cents rounded off to a buck.

I also picked up a Duncan Sharpfusion whiplash at SOS.:D
I went by Brad's table on thursday and played with his knives and commented that he didn't have one with my favorite black linen scales. Brad said no problem. Pick out the one you want and I will put black linen micarta on there for you. Very cool, especially since the show ran til the evening and I'm sure he didn't want to go home and re-work a perfectly good knife just for me. I stopped back by his table today and he had my folder ready for me. I really appreciate that Brad. You really went the extra distance to make a customer happy.

Sorry I missed you Tex. I stopped by John Ownby's table on thursday(very nice knives by the way) but missed ya. There is always next year.:)

Samhell, sorry I missed you. I was probably away from the table stimulating the knife economy. lol Yep, Johns knives are bang for the bucks for sure. I got another of his on Sat. I noticed that Brad sold alot of folders during the show. Here's the one I got. Smooth and scary sharp.

This weekend made me glad to be an American.

Good to hear that you had a nice show Brad. It's good to hear reactions to Sharpfusion from people who have actually seen it up close and personal.

Fight4Right- Thanks for the post about the show. Glad to hear that you were impressed with Sharpfusion, the new process is purty darn cool!

Larry Luana and Samhell- Great choice on your Whiplash with Sharpfusion from the "Monster". You can't get more custom than that!

I saw Snody's Sharpfusion test blade at SECKS and it was Killer! This is something that we will be hearing more good things about, no doubt!

Keep on Keeping on Snody and Duncan! Snody, if you are sharing your processes with just any ol monster maker, I'm going to have to start making knives :)
