What year did SOG start the split bullet logo? And from a collector's standpoint, would that mark an era? For example, 25 years from now a model having the old logo being significantly more valuable than one sporting the new, even if there's only one year difference in age?

We introduced the split bullet logo last year (2006) as part of our 20th anniversary. We also did a limited run of select knives in 2006 with a 20th anniversary logo on them. Then this year (2007) we switched all the blade markings over to the new split bullet logo design.

I'll really miss the old, simpler logo.

I remember that it was one of the drawpoints for me the first time I saw an SOG Knife in a knife shop. The old logo is straight-to-the-point, no-nonsense, and just plain perfect. The new one's a bit too big and flashy for me.

I have to agree. It's actually one of the things that I find more appealing about my (recently aquired) Tomcat I over my Tomcat III.
It just plain looks better! Looks more... serious.
