The SPORT of it?

Why not? Seems everything is a sport these days - look at the Olympics. I turn on TSN these days (The Sports Channel for us Canucks) and all I see is poker. Well, these guys do occasionally break out in cold sweat...I guess...

When people say they want to come to my shop and watch me work, I always respond that "knife making is NOT a spectator sport!"
I consider it art and poetry.
 
For me it is a passion and a way of life art and poetry. But I am a competitor. I love to compete. Knife making lets me do that I like to win but it is good enough just to compete. My friend John won best damascus at OKCA show and I enjoyed competing with him. Ray won best bowie, good for him, and he had to beat out a lot of bowies to do so. It was a good time just to compete with them. I think competition makes all of us raise our game. We all try to hit one out of the park you know get a home run. When I see John or Ray, I think I will pat them on the butt and tell them good game! For they have won at the sport of knife making, sort of
